Porsche immediately began investigating the scope of the affected vehicles, including past production records. Porsche in parallel studied whether the missing sealing cap was necessary to prevent the potential for adjustment, and how the agency addressed questions concerning the sealing caps in past petitions. This work continued through August 2022. On August 24, 2022, Porsche decided that the subject issue was a noncompliance with S10.18.9.2 of FMVSS No. 108. Description of Remedy : Description of Remedy Program : Check the installation of the caps on the left and right headlights. If no caps are fitted, they are retrofitted. The owner’s letter will advise that Porsche offers a reimbursement for pre-notification remedies in accordance with 49 CFR §573.13. Porsche immediately began investigating the scope of the affected vehicles, including past production records. Porsche in parallel studied whether the missing sealing cap was necessary to prevent the potential for adjustment, and how the agency addressed questions concerning the sealing caps in past petitions. This work continued through August 2022. On August 24, 2022, Porsche decided that the subject issue was a noncompliance with S10.18.9.2 of FMVSS No. 108.
