Summary
Porsche
Cars North America, Inc. (Porsche
) is recalling certain 2020-2025 Taycan vehicles. The front brake hoses can develop cracks and leak brake fluid.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the front brake hoses, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed July 3, 2024. Owners may contact Porsche
customer service at 1-800-767-7243. Porsche
’s number for this recall is ARB0.

Chronology :
In June 2023, Porsche
began receiving reports from the field regarding brake hose leakage incidents. These reports were varied in terms of market and vehicle production date; to date, 7 reports have been received for vehicles in the U.S. Porsche
began investigating the brake hose leakage issue, and conducted various analyses such as optical analyses, CT analyses and bench testing, including burst pressure testing of the front brake hoses, in an effort to determine the root cause of the issue. Porsche
also studied potential design issues, including brake hose length and/or mounting, as well as market-specific influences. Also, Porsche
conducted tests of braking distance increases in the event of full braking/hard stop with a front brake failure and studied increases in brake pedal travel related to this issue. These tests indicated that in the event of a service braking system failure (i.e., a failure of the braking system at the front axle) FMVSS 135 requirements are fulfilled by the secondary braking system (i.e., the braking system at the rear axle that remains fully functional).
There have been no accidents reported in the U.S. In one non-U.S. incident, an accident was reported, with no injuries. That incident involved a vehicle traveling significantly over the speed limit (approximately 120 km/h in a 30 km/h zone).
In an abundance of caution, Porsche
determined on 12 June 2024 that a safety-related defect exists in the subject vehicles and decided to initiate a safety recall.
