Chronology :
On March 28, 2023, Porsches AG learned that in some vehicles, certain welding connection points were potentially not set for the vehicles during the “white body” stage of production.
In the further course, a detailed evaluation of the fault pattern in the event of a crash had to be conducted for 3 different types of connections, ‘resistance spot weld’, ‘semi-hollow punch rivets and flow hole forming screws’ and ‘friction element welding and clinch connection points ‘,
In parallel, the potentially affected vehicles had to be identified by reviewing production records. This analysis revealed that 15 vehicles may potentially be affected worldwide (3 of them in the U.S.).
A field investigation and an evaluation of warranty records have shown zero accidents or any other complaints in this context, in the subject vehicles.
On April 26, 2023, Porsche
’s Product Safety Committee determined a safety defect and decided to recall the subject vehicles out of abundance of caution.
