Chronology :
February 21, 2023: Porsche AG learned that some instrument clusters did not perform as expected during an internal check of the market-specific coding.
Testing revealed that the “initial seat belt warning” function was not displayed correctly.
As a result, the suspect software had to be identified and the corresponding vehicles had to be determined.
Additional investigation was carried out to clearly identify possibly affected vehicles in the field.
March 15, 2023: the topic was presented to Porsche’s Product Safety Committee. Porsche was not aware of any customer complaints, warranty records, crashes or injuries due to this issue. It was determined that vehicles with incorrect coding have been produced and delivered to customers in Canada and Puerto Rico. The Porsche Product Safety Committee determined a noncompliance with the FMVSS 208 requirements and decided a noncompliance recall for the subject vehicles in Puerto Rico and Canada.

Customer Reactive Statement Our highest priority is the safety of our cars. We have
identified an issue on certain 2020-2023 Taycan
models that were delivered to customers in Puerto Rico
and Canada. Those vehicles received software coding
for the passenger seat belt warning function that
was not in compliance with local regulations. In the affected
vehicles, if the car is started and the passenger
is not wearing their seatbelt, the dashboard warning
icon displays a solid light rather than the required flashing
light accompanied by a warning sound.
APA2 Stop delivery – Re-programming or re-coding instrument cluster
2
Customers will be promptly notified so that Porsche
dealers can install the market-specific software for the
correct passenger seatbelt warning light and sound.
The recall remedy is free.
