ANA1 – Check Chassis Settings on the Rear Axle and Correct Them if Necessary (Recall Campaign)
Model Line: Cayenne (9YA)/Cayenne Coupé (9YB)
Model Year: As of 2021 up to 2022
Concerns: Suspension alignment
Information:
During a data analysis with regard to carrying out recall campaign AMA9, we discovered that the chassis geometry on the rear axle has deviated in some cases.
This faulty chassis setup can cause tire wear on the rear axle on vehicles with higher mileage. As a result, the high-speed stability cannot be guaranteed at high vehicle speeds.
Action required:
Adjust vehicle measurements if necessary.
Affected Vehicles:
Only vehicles assigned to the campaign (see also PCSS Vehicle Information).
Issue Description
Suspension alignment of the rear axle was not originally included in the remedy procedure for Recall Campaign AMA9. This may result in alterations in the wheel alignment, and in some instances, result in premature and uneven wear of the tires.
What should Dealers do?
Please do not deliver affected vehicles in dealer inventory until further notice. Customer vehicles will be recalled to the dealer to have the revised remedy performed.
What will Porsche
do?
Additional information will be provided as soon as possible.
Customer Reactive Statement
The safety of anyone travelling in one of our cars is our highest priority. For this reason, we regularly review the quality of our work. We previously recalled a number of model year 2021 and 2022 Cayenne vehicles to replace lock nuts that were not up to our standards on the trailing arms of the rear axles. It has since come to our attention that in some of these cases, this remedy may have resulted in rear axles being out of alignment, which in turn could cause excess tire wear. While no incidents have been recorded, we will check the suspension alignment on affected vehicles and adjust as necessary, as well as replace tires if there is premature wear due to this issue.
Customers whose cars are affected will be contacted in due course for the work to be carried on a date convenient to them. There will be no charge for this. In the meantime, their cars remain safe to drive, although we recommend that customers monitor their tires for any excess wear in the meantime.
Chronology :
November 16, 2021: Field cases regarding premature and uneven tire wear were reported from Audi in the European markets leading to the start of investigation.
November 2021 – January 2022: Detailed analysis of root cause, possible influences and consequences on Porsche
vehicles and determination of affected population.
January 19, 2022: Porsche
`s Product Safety Committee determines that already repaired vehicles according to AMA9/21V271 may be not within specification regarding the suspension alignment of the rear axle. The decision for a voluntary worldwide safety recall was made including all vehicles where AMA9/21V271 was performed.
Porsche
is not aware of any accidents in the United States.
