Summary
Porsche Cars North America, Inc. (Porsche) is recalling certain 2021 911 Turbo Coupe, 911 Turbo S Coupe, 911 Carrera 4S Targa, 911 Carrera 4S Cabriolet, 911 Turbo S Cabriolet, and 911 Turbo Cabriolet vehicles. Incorrect passenger seat was installed and may cause a Occupant Classification System (OCS) malfunction.
Remedy
Dealers will install the correct seat, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed November 16, 2021. Owners may contact Porsche customer service at 1-800-767-7243. Porsche’s number for this recall is AMB3.

Overview
Due to an incorrect parts list, the affected vehicles were fitted with a passenger seat variant that is not approved for the relevant market.
As a result, it is possible that the electrical signal in the passenger seat is insufficient to correctly recognize certain occupants in the passenger seat. In some cases, this may interrupt the triggering of the restraint systems on the passenger side. This is alerted to the driver by an airbag warning light or “Passenger Airbag OFF” light which is activated.
Therefore, the components for the seat occupancy detection system in the passenger seat must be replaced.
Within the market area for which you are responsible, please arrange for this measure to be carried out on the affected vehicles immediately.

Important:
CRITICAL WARNING -This campaign includes steps where control unit(s) in the vehicle will be programmed with the PIWIS Tester. The vehicle voltage must be maintained between 13.5 volts and 14.5 volts during this programming. Failure to maintain this voltage could result in damaged control unit(s). Damage caused by inadequate voltage during programming is not a warrantable defect. The technician must verify the actual vehicle voltage in the PIWIS Tester before starting the campaign and also document the actual voltage on the repair order.

motor vehicle safety exists in certain 2021 Model Year Porsche 911 Turbo,
911 Turbo S and 911 Carrera 4S vehicles.
You received this notice because our records, which are based primarily on
state registration and title data, indicate that you are the current owner of
a vehicle affected by this action.
What is the issue?
An incorrect front passenger seat variant was installed in your vehicle,
leading to the possible non-detection of a front passenger. As a result, the
front passenger airbag may not deploy in the event of a crash, increasing
the risk of injury.
What should you do?
Please wait for our follow up letter to bring
your vehicle in for a remedy.
In the meantime, if the red air bag warning
lamp is illuminated in the instrument cluster
or the yellow “Passenger Airbag OFF“ status
lamp is illuminated in the overhead console
when the front passenger seat is occupied
by an adult, then do not use the front
passenger seat until the remedy has been
performed and please immediately contact

When replacing the components of the occupant classification
system, all components included in the
repair kitMUST be replaced:
1 – Padding with affixed sensor mat
2 – Occupant classification control unit
A mixed installation, e.g. “old” padding and “new”
control unit, is not permitted.
The padding with affixed sensor mat for the occupant classification
system and the occupant classification control
unit are calibrated together by the manufacturer and must
therefore only be replaced as a complete unit.
The occupant classification control unit must not be
coded.
The sensormat for the occupant classification system must not be removed from the foam part.

To ensure that the occupant classification works correctly, a variant of the padding with seat
ventilation will be installed during this campaign even though the vehicle is not equipped with
seat ventilation. This allows the new connection for the suction fan to remain free.
