The “Airbag warning lamp” or “Passenger Airbag OFF” lamp will be activated in order to alert the driver and passenger.
If warnings are ignored, the front passenger airbag may not deploy in a type of a crash in which it is designed to deploy.
The vehicles will be recalled to the workshop and an optimized sensor mat and seat cushion will be installed free of charge.
Customers will be notified of this recall by mail no later than May 2, 2021 and again once parts become available.
This post will be updated with the latest information regarding this recall.
Please arrange for this measure to be carried out on the affected vehicles as soon as the required parts are available.
| Model type | Macan (95B) |
| Model year | 2015 – 2018 |
| Number | 39,326 |
Parts required
The parts required are expected to become available in August 2021. As soon as the parts are available, we will inform you about this in a future PPN update.
Summary of the most important points
Customer complaints – for vehicles in which the airbag warning message is activated
Until such a time as the optimized sensor mats become available, the seat occupancy detection system can be replaced in the event of complaints and active warnings. A small number of seat occupancy detection repair kits are currently available for this. If a repair kit is required for a customer case, a Part ticket must be created using PRMS (supported with car down) and must be VIN specific.
Photo documentation of the warning must be documented and available in PRMS.
Repair procedure
The seat occupancy detection system for the passenger seat must be replaced according to the procedure described in Workshop Manual “741055 Replacing padding for front seat”.
Warranty processing
The work involved is invoiced using the regular warranty claim for campaign AMA2. The affected vehicle is assigned to the respective campaign scope for replacing the seat occupancy detection system.
Porsche
Mobility
If no seat occupancy detection repair kits are available and a complaint is received, customer mobility services can be offered only until such a time as the measure AMA2 has been carried out. Basically, the current rules governing the Customer Mobility Program apply here. Depending on which vehicles are used to ensure customer mobility, the costs incurred can be invoiced according to the standard process:
Use of Porsche
vehicles via Mobility Account (standard process)

AMA2 – Replacing Seat Occupancy Detection System for Passenger Seat (USA/Canada)
(Recall Campaign)
Revision: This bulletin replaces bulletin Group 6 50/21 AMA2, dated September 28, 2021.
Model Year: As of 2015 up to 2018
Important: CRITICAL WARNING -This campaign includes steps where control unit(s) in the vehicle will be
programmed with the PIWIS Tester. The vehicle voltage must be maintained between 13.5 volts and 14.5
volts during this programming. Failure to maintain this voltage could result in damaged control unit(s).
Damage caused by inadequate voltage during programming is not a warrantable defect. The technician
must verify the actual vehicle voltage in the PIWIS Tester before starting the campaign and also document
the actual voltage on the repair order.
Model Line: Macan
Equipment: Country equipment USA (C02)/Canada (C36)
Concerns: Seat occupancy detection system for passenger seat
Information: Sensor mats for seat occupancy detection, on which the conductive fabric can break, were
installed in the passenger seat on the affected vehicles.
If the conductive fabric breaks, the front airbags on the passenger’s side will be deactivated because
correct seat occupancy detection can no longer be guaranteed. The airbag warning light and Passenger
Airbag OFF light will be activated in order to alert the driver.
Action required: Replace the seat occupancy detection system according to the campaign scope assigned to the
respective vehicle.

Contents of occupant classification
system repair kit
When replacing the occupant classification components,
all coordinated components (padding, sensor mat and
control unit) in the repair kit must be replaced.
Due to worldwide semiconductor bottlenecks at individual
suppliers, we were unfortunately unable to include the
corresponding occupant classification control units in
the repair kit as part of this campaign.
To avoid delay in the implementation of this measure, the
occupant classification control unit installed in the
vehicle is reused in this particular case.
1 – Padding with affixed sensor mat – replace
2 – Occupant classification control unit – reuse
When implementing this measure, pay particular attention
to the following:
• Thesensormat for the occupant classification system must not be removed from the foam part.
• Mixed installation, e.g. “old” padding and “new” sensor mat, is not permitted.
• Theexisting control unit for occupant classification must not be removed and must be reprogrammed
with the provided programming box.
• The one-time procurement of the required programming box can be found in the section “Required
tools”.
• Thedirect programming of the control unit occupant classification with the currently valid
software is only approved and released within the scope of this campaign.
• After carrying out this campaign, in the event of a further repair case, the usual repair concept
with complete replacement of all components (including control units) for occupant classification
must be used.
Information
Between delivery of the padding to its installation in the front seat, the glued sensor mat can partially
detach from the foam part over longer periods of time. This does not constitute a material defect and
will have no influence on the quality of the sensor mat.

place before installation as shown in pictures A, B, C.
Complete adhesive strength is only achieved after attaching or clamping the seat cover.
