Summary
Porsche Cars North America, Inc. (Porsche) is recalling certain 2021 Cayenne GTS, Cayenne GTS Coupe, 2020-2021 Cayenne Coupe, Cayenne S Coupe, Cayenne E-Hybrid Coupe vehicles. The passenger seat back heating element was not installed and may impact the calibration of the Occupant Classification System.
Remedy
Dealers will install a heating element, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 25, 2021. Owners may contact Porsche customer service at 1-800-767-7243. Porsche’s number for this recall is AMB0.

Information:
Due to an assembly error that has since been corrected, the subject vehicles were assembled without the passenger seat back heating element.
This variation from specification can affect the Occupant Classification System as calibrated for this specific vehicle. If warnings are ignored, the front passenger restraint systems may not be activated as designed.
In the event of occupant classification system malfunctions, the “Airbag warning lamp” or “Passenger Airbag OFF” lamp will be activated in order to alert the occupants.
Action required:
Retrofit heating element for passenger seat backrest.
Please note: All vehicles affected by this campaign do not have seat heating and will not gain seat heating functionality with the completion of this campaign. The seat heating element on the front passenger seat is only required for the correct function of the front passenger seat occupant detection system. For this reason, the seat heating element is always installed regardless of whether the vehicle is equipped with seat heating or not.

Dear Mr,
This notice is sent to you in accordance with the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act. Porsche has decided that a defect that relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 2020-2021 Model Year Porsche Cayenne, Cayenne E-Hybrid, Cayenne S and Cayenne GTS vehicles. Our records show that you are the current owner of a vehicle affected by this recall.
What is the issue?
Due to assembly error, the passenger seat Occupant Classification System (OCS) in your Cayenne may be out of specification. This may preclude passenger air bag deployment in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury. To remedy this issue, Porsche will replace an OCS component in your vehicle.
What will Porsche do?
Porsche is conducting a Safety Recall to replace an OCS component in the passenger seat back free of charge.
What should you do?
The necessary parts to complete this Recall are now available. Please contact any authorized Porsche dealer to schedule an appointment to have this recall performed as soon as possible and to arrange for Porsche-provided alternate transportation, if necessary

If the red air bag warning lamp is illuminated in the instrument cluster or the yellow “Passenger Airbag OFF“ status lamp is illuminated in the overhead console when the front passenger seat is occupied by an adult, then do not use the front passenger seat until the issue has been remedied by your authorized Porsche dealer.
