Porsche Cars North America, Inc. (Porsche) is recalling certain 2018 718 Boxster, Boxster S and Boxster GTS, 718 Cayman, Cayman S and Cayman GTS, 911 Carrera, Carrera T, Targa 4 GTS, Carrera 4, Carrera S, Carrera 4S, Carrera GTS, Carrera 4 GTS, Carrera Cabriolet, Carrera S Cabriolet, Carrera 4S Cabriolet, Carrera GTS Cabriolet, Carrera 4 GTS Cabriolet, Targa 4, Targa 4S, Turbo, Turbo S, Turbo S Exclusive Series, Turbo Cabriolet, Turbo S Cabriolet and GT3 vehicles. The side air bag impact sensors may not have been properly tightened to the vehicle.
Remedy
Porsche will notify owners, and dealers will tighten the air bag sensors, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began May 17, 2019. Owners may contact Porsche customer service at 1-800-767-7243. Porsche’s number for this recall is AKA4.

1 Check screws on side airbag sensors at the left and
right.
To do this, visually inspect and feel both airbag
sensors Check screws on airbag sensor -1- to
determine whether the relevant sensor is screwed
without play to the sidemember and there is no
gap between the sensor and fastening nut Check
screws on airbag sensor -2-.
• If the relevant airbag sensor is screwed without
play to the side member Check screws on
airbag sensor -A-, tighten the corresponding
sensor again to the specified tightening
torque of9Nm(6.5 ftlb.). End of action
required, continue with Step 3.
• If the relevant sensor is not screwed without
play Check screws on airbag sensor -B-,
the corresponding airbag sensor must be
re-screwed, to do this, continue with Step 2.

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act. Porsche has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 2018 Model Year Porsche 718 Boxster, 718 Cayman, and 91 1 vehicles. Our records show that you are the owner of a vehicle affected by this action.
| What is the issue? | Lease vehicles and address changes On the affected vehicles, the side airbag sensors may not have been tightened to specification and could become loose over time. This could impair the effectiveness of the restraint system. In the event of a crash, the air bags may not deploy, increasing the risk of injury. |
| What will we do? | Your authorized Porsche dealer will inspect the side airbag sensors and tighten them to specification, if necessary. |
| What should you do? | Please contact your authorized Porsche dealer as soon as possible to schedule a remedy appointment and to arrange for a Porsche loaner vehicle if you need it. The remedy is expected to take approximately one hour to complete. |
