13/15

Model Line: Cayenne (92A)

Model Year: 2015

Equipment: Only headlights with LED bulbs

Concerns: Headlights, (central) headlight control unit and LED control unit

Information:

  • In the event of spare parts requirements due to a hardware fault or
  • when commissioning the headlight control unit/LED control unit using the PIWIS Tester

the following points must be observed:

  1. If a hardware fault is found on a headlight, only the relevant headlight or the faulty components need to be replaced.

The existing control units must not be replaced.

-> The replacement of control units in the event of hardware faults is not a long-term solution.

The fault codes that were entered previously are no longer present only in the new control unit (i.e. the fault codes are deleted).

This does not correct the actual cause of the fault. The fault can occur again.

  1. If an LED control unit needs to be replaced, the affected control units can be commissioned (started up) from now on (with PIWIS Tester test software 15.200 installed) by selecting ‘Headlight start-up‘ in the “Maintenance/repairs” menu.

-> If ‘Headlight start-up’ is cancelled “sporadically” by the Tester, control unit programming must also be carried out, see Step c).

  1. If a headlight control unit needs to be replaced the headlight control unit must be re-programmed before commissioning:

Preliminary work

Carry out general preliminary work for control unit programming as described inWorkshop Manual ‘9X00IN Basic instructions and procedure for control unit programming using the PIWIS Tester – section on “Preliminary work”‘.

Re-program headlight control unit:

The basic procedure for programming a control unit is described in the Workshop ManualWorkshop Manual ‘9X00IN Basic instructions and procedure for control unit programming using the PIWIS Tester – section on “Programming”‘.

Required PIWIS Tester software version: 15.200 (or higher)
Type of control unit programming: Control unit programming using the

‘Campaign’ function in the Additional menu on the PIWIS Tester by entering a programming code.

Programming code: J 7Q1Q
Programming sequence: Read and follow the information and instructions on the PIWIS Tester during the guided programming sequence.

Do not interrupt programming.

Procedure in the event of error messages appearing during the programming sequence: ->Workshop Manual ‘9X00IN Basic instructions and procedure for control unit programming using the PIWIS Tester – section on “Troubleshooting”‘.
Procedure in the event of abnormal termination of control unit programming: Repeat control unit programming by entering the programming code again.
Subsequent work

Carry out general subsequent work for control unit programming as described in the Workshop ManualWorkshop Manual ‘9X00IN Basic instructions and procedure for control unit programming using the PIWIS Tester – section on “Subsequent work”‘.
