An unsecured child restraint system can increase the risk of injury during a crash.
NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V123
Manufacturer Porsche Cars North America, Inc.
Components SEAT BELTS
Potential Number of Units Affected 910
Summary
Porsche Cars North America, Inc. (Porsche
) is recalling certain 2023 911 Carrera T, 911 Carrera 4 GTS, 911 Carrera GTS, 911 Turbo S, 911 Carrera 4 Cabriolet, 911 Carrera 4S Cabriolet, 911 Carrera S, 911 Turbo S Cabriolet, 911 Carrera 4, 911 Carrera 4 GTS Cabriolet, 911 Targa 4 GTS, 911 Carrera, 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet, 911 Carrera 4S, 911 Targa 4S, 911 Turbo, and 911 Edition 50 Years Porsche
Design vehicles. The seat belt automatic locking retractor (ALR) may deactivate early, which can prevent the child restraint system from securing properly. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 208, “Occupant Crash Protection.”
Remedy
Dealers will inspect and replace the rear three-point belts as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed April 19, 2024. Owners may contact Porsche customer service at 1-800-767-7243. Porsche
’s number for this recall is ARA2.
Notes
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.
Check if your Porsche has a Recall
Issue Description
On the rear three-point belts, there is a possibility that the automatic seat belt extension lock for mounting a child seat does not work properly.
If this is the case, the belt extension lock can be switched off in an undefined manner, and the belt can then continue to be unrolled and pulled out. As a result, the child seat is not fixed in accordance with the specifications.
To ensure the legally required operation of the belt extension lock, the three-point belts at the rear left and rear right must be checked and replaced if necessary.
What will Porsche do?
The remedy is now available as of 3/14/24
Vehicles will have the remedy performed as soon as it is available. Customers will be contacted by PCNA via letter in the coming weeks to inform them of the Recall and remedy availability.

Description of the Safety Risk : This noncompliance does not impact the compliance or functionality of the The information contained in this report was submitted pursuant to 49 CFR §573 Part 573 Safety Recall Report 24V-123 Page 5 Description of the Safety Risk : seat belt assemblies with respect to their normal use by adult passengers or use of the LATCH system to secure child restraint seats. With child restraint
seats for which the vehicle owner elects to use the seat belt to secure the child restraint seat instead of the LATCH system, if the seat belt is not lockable so that the seat belt assembly can be used to tightly secure the child restraint seat, there is an increased risk of injury in a crash to the occupant of the child restraint seat.
Description of the Cause : The automatic retractor’s locking mechanism is engaged by a spring steel blade. After the production was moved to an alternative production plant, the automated assembly check at the manufacturing process verified only the presence of the spring blade, but not the correct spring blade’s position. Identification of Any Warning
that can Occur : A vehicle owner who elects to use the seat belt instead of the LATCH system to secure a child restraint seat will notice that the audible clicking noise made when the ALR function is activated stops well before the seat belt strap is fully retracted. Chronology :
January 15, 2024: Porsche was informed about a potential supplier error in seat belt assemblies that may have occurred after the production was moved to an alternative production plant.
In the further cause the expected error rate of 0.5% (verified by a sorting action) was analyzed and a plausibility check of the list of potentially affected vehicles was carried out. A field analysis did not reveal any known cases of accidents or injuries.
February 14, 2024: Upon completing its assessment and identifying all potentially affected vehicles, Porsche decided to conduct a recall to remedy the subject noncompliance.
Description of Remedy :
Description of Remedy Program : The rear three-point belts left and right will be checked if the automatic
belt retractor’s locking mechanism could be engaged and the three-point belts replaced, if necessary.
The owner’s letter will not include a statement about customer reimbursement for pre-notification remedies as all of the affected vehicles are still covered under Porsche New Car Limited Warranty. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component : Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : All produced and available rear three-point belt units have been checked at the supplier’s production. Additionally, all newly produced rear three- point belts have been checked by an updated automated check at the production line.
Optimized assembly jig at the assembly line since August 4th, 2023 Enhanced camera-based assembly check at the assembly line since August 16th, 2023 Recall Schedule :
Description of Recall Schedule : Customers will be notified of this Recall by mail within 60 days of the
filing of this report.

ARA2 Stop Delivery / Recall Campaign – Checking rear
left and right three-point belts and replacing them if
necessary
ID Number ARA2
Models Affected 911 (992)
Model Years 2023
VIN List Attached
Number of Affected VINs 897
Issue Description On the rear three-point belts, there is a possibility that
the automatic seat belt extension lock for mounting a
child seat does not work properly.
If this is the case, the belt extension lock can be switched
off in an undefined manner, and the belt can
then continue to be unrolled and pulled out. As a result,
the child seat is not fixed in accordance with the
specifications.
To ensure the legally required operation of the belt
extension lock, the three-point belts at the rear left
and rear right must be checked and replaced if necessary.
