718 Cayman GTS 4.0, 2024 Porsche
718 Boxster S, and 718 Boxster GTS 4.0 vehicles. The rear electronic control unit (ECU) may allow the spoiler to raise up too high.
Remedy
Dealers will update the ECU software, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed February 2, 2024. Owners may contact Porsche
customer service at 1-800-767-7243. Porsche
’s number for this recall is APB4.

Chronology :
In the beginning of October, 2023, Porsche
was informed about an improper re-coding of the rear vehicle electronics control unit in the rework area. As a result, the subject vehicles were produced with an out of specification position of the rear spoiler.
Subsequently, the number of affected cars and markets had to be identified.
A field analysis did not reveal any known cases of either tire damage, accidents or any other complaint in this context.
During October and November of 2023, possible effects on driving behavior and the visibility of the high-mounted
stop lamp had to be analyzed.
On November 29, 2023 out of abundance of caution, a determination of defect was made in Porsche
’s Product Safety Committee.

How to perform a Pass Thru - ECU Check:
- Enter the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).
- In case of EPA offical enter the CVN ID.
- In case of CARB offical enter the Cal ID.

Description of the Defect : Due to improper re-coding of the rear vehicle electronics control unit in the
rework area of a Porsche
manufacturing plant, the position of the rear spoiler
is out of specification and therefore too high.
The higher rear spoiler can reduce the visibility of the high-mounted rear stoplamp
on affected vehicles. In addition the vehicle aerodynamics and driving
dynamics may be affected.

manually re-coded with the wrong values after the vehicles were produced
with the correct software coding.
